VHS Format Variants

• VHS (Video Home System) — Standard consumer format introduced by JVC in 1976
• VHS-C — Compact VHS cassette for camcorders, playable in standard VHS decks with adapter
• S-VHS (Super VHS) — Higher resolution variant (~400 lines vs ~240 lines), backwards compatible with VHS
• S-VHS-C — Compact S-VHS for camcorders
• D-VHS (Data VHS) — Digital recording format capable of HD recording, backwards compatible with VHS/S-VHS
