Description

The VT-89A was the flagship 1985 Hitachi VHS VCR for the North American market. It featured a 5-head design with SP, LP, and EP speeds, and comprehensive playback features including pause/still, FF/rewind search, frame advance, and slow motion. It included VHS Hi-Fi stereo audio recording and playback. The digital tuner covered 133 channels. Advanced features included an index function for tape navigation, on-screen display programming, and audio/video dubbing capability. It included a wireless remote control and an 8-event/1-year programmable timer. It used a front-loading cassette mechanism.
