Description

The Sony SL-F1 was the successor to the SL-3000 portable Betamax recorder, built on the 711P chassis. Released in 1982, it was designed for mobile use with camera connectivity for outside filming. The SL-F1 could be operated via a battery pack or DC adaptor. It was part of a modular system that included the TT-F1 companion tuner/timer unit, the AC-F1 charger/power supply, the PCM-F1 portable digital audio adapter, Sony cameras, and a backpack for field operation. This modular approach was highly influential in the portable video and audio recording world. The NTSC equivalent portable series was the SL-2000/SL-2001/SL-2005, which paired with the TT-2000/TT-2001/TT-2005 tuner/timer units.
