Description

The Sony PVW-2650 is a Betacam SP editing player from the PVW-2000 Pro series, introduced by Sony around 1991. It is the player companion to the PVW-2800 recorder and represents the mid-range Betacam SP product line positioned between the professional BVW series and the budget UVW series.

The PVW-2650 features Dynamic Tracking for noiseless variable-speed playback from -1 to +3 times normal speed, a wider DT range than the BVW-65. It plays both Betacam SP metal particle tapes and oxide Betacam cassettes in L-size (90+ minutes) and S-size (30+ minutes) formats. Two longitudinal audio channels with Dolby C noise reduction provide high-quality audio performance.

Key improvements over the BVW series include S-Video output, a wider Dynamic Tracking range, and a more affordable price point while maintaining broadcast-quality performance. An optional U-matic DUB output (BKW-2030) allows direct transfer to U-matic VTRs with minimal picture degradation.

The built-in TBC ensures stable output without external processing. The control panel tilts up to 90 degrees and can be detached for remote operation up to 5 meters away using the optional BKW-2010 Control Panel Extension Kit.
