Description
The Sony EDW-150 was the professional variant of the EDC-50 "ED CAM" camcorder, designed for broadcast and professional video production in the Japanese market. Released in 1988, it was built to professional specifications with broadcast-standard connectors and optics.
Key differences from the consumer EDC-50 included BNC connectors for video output, XLR (Canon plug) microphone inputs, and a Fujinon 12× zoom lens (replacing the consumer model's Tamron 10× lens). Notably, the "2CCD" marking that appeared on the side of the consumer EDC-50 was absent from the EDW-150's body.
The EDW-150 represents the highest tier of ED Beta camcorder equipment and is among the rarest ED Beta products. Very few units are known to survive.
