- U-matic SP (Superior Performance) — Enhanced version with improved signal-to-noise ratio and horizontal resolution
Notes
U-matic was widely used in broadcast news gathering, industrial video, and educational settings. While largely obsolete for production, U-matic decks remain important for media preservation and archival digitization of legacy content.
