Description

The Sony SL-F1 was the successor to the SL-3000 portable Betamax recorder. Released in 1982, it was internally based on the SL-C9's mechanics and represented a significant step forward in portable Betamax recording. The SL-F1 was part of a modular system that included a companion tuner unit, charger/power supply, the PCM-F1 digital audio adapter, Sony cameras, and a backpack for field operation. This modular approach was highly influential in the portable video and audio recording world. The NTSC equivalent portable series was the SL-2000/SL-2001/SL-2005, which paired with the TT-2000/TT-2001/TT-2005 tuner/timer units.
