Description
The Sony EDW-95 was a Japanese broadcast and professional-grade ED Beta VCR, based on the consumer EDV-9000. It was designed for broadcast facility and professional production use.
The EDW-95 featured a white/silver body color (distinguishing it from the consumer black EDV-9000) and used BNC connectors for video input and output, though audio connections used standard RCA connectors. It was a tunerless design, as typical of professional video equipment.
Very little documentation is publicly available about the EDW-95, and surviving units are extremely rare. It represents one of the most specialized applications of the ED Beta format, bridging the gap between consumer Betamax and professional Betacam equipment.
