Description

The Sony UVW-100P is the PAL version of the UVW-100, a compact single-piece Betacam SP camcorder introduced by Sony in the early 1990s for ENG (Electronic News Gathering) and general field acquisition. Its lightweight design at 7.3 kg (including viewfinder, lens, microphone, battery, and tape) enables single-person operation.

The UVW-100P records on Betacam SP metal particle small cassettes, providing more than 30 minutes of recording time. It features a compact drum mechanism for reduced size and weight, and operates on 12V DC power with low 20W consumption using the standard NP-B1 battery.

The camcorder is equipped with a built-in LTC time code reader and genlock capability, making it suitable for multi-camera environments as well as single camera work. The industry-standard 26-pin interface provides component, Y/C, and composite outputs for direct connection to external VTRs. Audio input is via balanced XLR connectors with selectable 48V phantom power for condenser microphones, and Dolby C noise reduction enhances audio performance.
