The tube brand can be identified by the letter beside the serial number on the model tag:
- R - RCA/Thomson (A80AEJ10X or A80AEJ15X)
- H - Hitachi (A80LJF30X)
- M - Matsushita/Panasonic (M80JUA061X)
The Hitachi and Panasonic tubes are generally preferred by enthusiasts for their quality.
