Description
The JVC HR-3300U was JVC's first VHS VCR released in the North American market in 1977. As the inventor of the VHS format, JVC pioneered the home video recording industry with this model. The HR-3300U featured a simple 2-head design with SP (Standard Play) speed only, a mechanical tuner with knob-based channel selection for VHF/UHF reception, and a basic 1-event programmable timer. The top-loading tape mechanism was typical of early VCRs. This model established the "HR" prefix that JVC would use for its consumer Home Recorder line throughout the VHS era.
