Description

The Sony SL-HF2000 was the last Sony Betamax VCR produced for the North American market, released in 1993. It was a simplified successor to the SL-HF2100, retaining the distinctive swing-down front panel door design but with a reduced feature set. It used a 2-head configuration instead of the HF2100's 4-head system and could only record in standard SuperBeta (βII, βIII) rather than Super Hi-Band. It retained automatic tracking, Beta Hi-Fi stereo audio, a 181-channel digital tuner, slow motion, X2 speed playback, and index search. The RMT-V128 remote was a more conventional design compared to the HF2100's touchpad remote. It marked the end of the Betamax format in North America.
