Description
The Sony SL-HF2100 was the 15th Anniversary Betamax, also known as the Buttonless Betamax, and was the last high-end full-featured American-market Betamax VCR. Released in 1991, it featured a distinctive swing-down front panel door spanning the full width of the machine with unique touchpad controls and a scrolling LED display. It was the first Sony Betamax with automatic tracking. The machine could record in Super Hi-Band (βISHB) mode using standard Beta tapes and featured an Opt-4 optimized 4-head system with a flying erase head for clean insert editing. The innovative touchpad remote (RMT-2100A) featured 13 menu screens and two-way communication with the VCR. Specifications included 35W power consumption, dimensions of 466 x 102 x 404 mm, and a weight of 11 kg. It remains one of the most sought-after Betamax models on the collector market.
