Description

The Sony EDV-6000 was the last ED Beta VCR model to be released, launching in March 1990 at a retail price of ¥175,000 — the most affordable ED Beta deck. It was a simplified version of the EDV-7000 with the body-mounted Shuttle Edit control removed (shuttle editing was still available via the remote control only).

Body color is silver (even thousands). The EDV-6000 was sold exclusively in Japan and had no direct North American counterpart. Despite being the most affordable model, it still maintained the core ED Beta specifications: 500 lines horizontal resolution, 9.3 MHz white peak luminance carrier, flying erase head, and Hi-Fi stereo audio.

With the EDV-6000, Sony completed the consumer ED Beta lineup of five VCR decks. No further ED Beta VCR models were developed, though the EDV-9000 would continue in production for another 12 years.
