Description
The Toshiba V-31 was a front-loading Betamax VCR in competition with the Sony SL-C7 and Sanyo VTC-5000. Produced in silver, it was quite heavy and did not have perfect still frame but offered remote control and a multi-event timer. Both the V-31 and V-33 were unusual in that they automatically sensed when a video input was provided and switched from tuner to AV input — most other machines required manual switching. Both machines were also marketed under the General brand name; the General versions were electrically identical but had a recast plastic front panel giving them a distinctive look.
