Description

The Sony UVW-1600P is the PAL version of the UVW-1600, a Betacam SP editing player introduced by Sony in the mid-1990s as part of the UVW budget series. It is superior to the basic UVW-1200P in several key areas: it features an RS-422 9-pin interface for professional edit suite integration, Dolby C noise reduction, and an LTC output connector for time code routing to external equipment.

The UVW-1600P plays back both Betacam SP metal particle tapes and original oxide Betacam cassettes in both L-size (100+ minutes at PAL speed) and S-size formats. Two longitudinal audio channels with Dolby C noise reduction are provided. The built-in TBC with optional external control via the UVR-60P remote unit ensures stable broadcast-quality output.

The RS-422 interface makes the UVW-1600P suitable as a source deck in editing systems, representing excellent value compared to the BVW series while maintaining essential professional connectivity.
