Ferguson 8922
Description
The Ferguson Model 8922 is a VHS video cassette recorder introduced in the United Kingdom in 1978. It is a clone of the JVC HR-3300, the first VHS VCR, sourced from JVC and sold under the Ferguson brand name. Ferguson Radio Corporation was part of the British Radio Corporation and had a long history of manufacturing televisions dating back to the 1950s. By the 1970s, Ferguson was owned by Thorn (later Thorn EMI), who also owned the Baird brand, resulting in both companies selling identical JVC-sourced VCRs with the same model number. The Ferguson 8922 was widely available in the UK both for sale and through the Radio Rentals chain, which was also owned by Thorn. Like the HR-3300, it was notably compact for its time, contributing to its popularity.
