Description

The Sony UVW-1200P is the PAL version of the UVW-1200, an entry-level Betacam SP studio player introduced by Sony in the mid-1990s as part of the budget UVW series. It is the most basic playback-only deck in the UVW range, designed for simple viewing, logging, and playback applications.

The UVW-1200P plays back both Betacam SP metal particle tapes and original oxide Betacam cassettes in both L-size (100+ minutes at PAL speed) and S-size formats. Two longitudinal audio channels with Dolby C noise reduction are provided. The built-in TBC ensures stable output without external processing.

Unlike the higher-end UVW-1600P, the UVW-1200P uses an RS-232C 25-pin interface rather than RS-422 9-pin, limiting its integration into professional editing systems. It does not feature an LTC output connector, only an internal reader for timecode display via the built-in character generator.
