Description
The Sony UVW-1400 (also known as UVW-1400A) is a Betacam SP recorder/player from the UVW budget series. It is a basic record/playback deck designed for corporate, educational, and institutional video production environments.
The UVW-1400 records on metal particle tape (Betacam SP) and plays back both metal and oxide cassettes in L-size (100+ minutes) and S-size formats. Two longitudinal audio channels with Dolby C noise reduction are provided. A built-in TBC with digital dropout compensation ensures stable output.
A notable feature is the switchable RGB/component output, which can operate in either Y/R-Y/B-Y component mode or RGB mode with sync on green, making it versatile for interfacing with computer graphics systems and color video printers. A trigger output for Sony color video printers and foot switch control capability support specialized workflows.
The UVW-1400 uses an RS-232C interface (25-pin D-sub) for external computer control rather than the professional RS-422 serial standard. A stereo mini jack remote connector allows foot switch operation. The built-in timecode generator/reader supports LTC and user bits.
