Description
The Sony UVW-1400AP is the PAL version of the UVW-1400, a basic Betacam SP studio recorder/player introduced by Sony in the mid-1990s as part of the budget UVW series. It adds recording capability and S-Video/RGB inputs to the feature set of the UVW-1200P player.
The UVW-1400AP records exclusively on Betacam SP metal particle tapes and plays back both SP and original oxide Betacam cassettes in both L-size (100+ minutes at PAL speed) and S-size formats. Two longitudinal audio channels with Dolby C noise reduction are provided.
The deck features comprehensive I/O including composite, S-Video, and switchable RGB/component connections via BNC, making it versatile for integration with various equipment types. Like the UVW-1200P, it uses an RS-232C 25-pin interface rather than RS-422 9-pin, limiting its integration into professional RS-422 editing systems.
