Description
The Sony SL-HF100 (SL-HF100UB in the UK, SL-HF100EC in Continental Europe) was one of only two Hi-Fi Betamax recorders released by Sony in the UK domestic market. It was the companion machine to the SL-HF950, offering Hi-Fi stereo sound with 260 lines of horizontal resolution, along with a simulcast input and multi-event counter. Unlike the HF950, it lacked a real-time counter, insert editing, Super Beta modes, and perfect picture in pause mode, making it the more basic Hi-Fi option in Sony's lineup. Tuning controls were located under a panel on top, similar to the SL-C9. The SL-HF100EC variant added PAL/SECAM support for Continental European markets. The SL-HF100 was a PAL-market model with no direct NTSC equivalent bearing the same name; the American market had its own range of Hi-Fi models such as the SL-HF300 and SL-HF400.
