Description
The Sony UVW-1600 is a Betacam SP edit-controllable player from the UVW budget series. It is the step-up model from the UVW-1200, distinguished by the addition of an RS-422 9-pin serial interface for integration into edit systems, an LTC time code output for external time code reading, and external TBC control capability via the optional UVR-60 remote unit.
The UVW-1600 plays both metal particle (Betacam SP) and oxide (original Betacam) cassettes in L-size (90+ minutes) and S-size (30+ minutes) formats. It provides two longitudinal audio channels with Dolby C noise reduction. A built-in TBC with digital dropout compensation ensures stable output, with remote TBC adjustment available through the rear-panel 15-pin D-sub connector.
Video outputs include composite, component (via both 12-pin Sony DUB and 3× BNC connectors), and S-Video. A built-in character generator can superimpose timecode, VTR status, and self-diagnostic messages via Video Output 2. High-speed picture search up to 16× normal speed is available with the optional SVRM-100A jog/shuttle remote.
The compact 4U-height chassis at 18 kg and 65W consumption makes it well-suited for installation in edit suites where space and power are at a premium.
