Description

The Sony SL-5800, marketed as the "Time Commander," was the first Betamax with a distinctive name. It introduced variable-speed scan, frame-by-frame picture advance, variable speed slow motion, and crystal-clear freeze frame, all accessible from the remote control, plus automatic rewind at the end of tape. An optional BetaStack changer was available. Retail price was $1,450.
