Description
The Baird Model 8922 is a VHS video cassette recorder introduced in the United Kingdom in 1978. It is a clone of the JVC HR-3300, sourced from JVC and sold under the Baird brand name. The Baird Television brand has a storied history: John Logie Baird demonstrated the first television transmission in 1926, and Baird Television Ltd was formed in 1952 to manufacture TV sets. The company was acquired by Radio Rentals in 1960 and subsequently by Thorn in 1968. Since Thorn also owned Ferguson, both the Baird 8922 and the Ferguson 8922 were identical JVC-sourced units differing only in branding. The Baird 8922 was widely available in the UK through the Radio Rentals chain, which was also owned by Thorn.
