The Sony PHM-20M8U is a 20-inch (19-inch viewable) professional HD color monitor from Sony's Digital HDVS (High Definition Video System) line, designed for high-definition video production and broadcast applications. It supports HD component signals (YPbPr and GBR/sync-on-green) at 1080i (SMPTE 274M) and 1035i (SMPTE 240M) standards, as well as standard NTSC 525-line signals.
Features
The PHM-20M8U uses an HR (High Resolution) Trinitron tube with SMPTE-C standard phosphors and an aperture grille pitch of 0.30 mm, delivering a center resolution of 700 TV lines in 16:9 mode and 900 TV lines in 4:3 mode.
Aspect ratio is switchable between 16:9 and 4:3 modes, with a 4:3 Area Marker function for identifying the 4:3 safe area within the 16:9 image. A beam current feedback circuit stabilizes color temperature, which is selectable between D65, D93, and two user-definable presets ranging from 3200K to 10000K. Underscan, Blue Only, and H/V delay display modes are provided, along with auto/manual degaussing and a Degauss-Delay function.
The monitor accepts field frequencies of 59.94 or 60.00 Hz and active line counts of 1035 or 1080. An optional HD SDI (High Definition Serial Digital Interface) input is available as an accessory; this interface is included as standard on the related Sony HDM-20M8U model. The monitor is rack-mountable in a standard 19-inch EIA rack using the optional SLR-103A adapter.
Remote control is supported via a 20-pin parallel connector and two D-sub 9-pin serial connectors.
