Description

The Panasonic DMR-E85 is a consumer DVD recorder released in 2004. It contains a Panasonic MN85573 video processing IC with integrated frame synchronization capabilities.[1]

Like other models in the Panasonic DMR series, the DMR-E85's frame synchronizer provides passthrough TBC capability that can be used for analog video digitization. It uses the same MN85573 IC as the Panasonic DMR-E55, which has been tiered as a Tier 2 passthrough TBC — usable but weaker than later models like the Panasonic DMR-ES10.

The DMR-E85 was produced in both PAL and NTSC regional variants. PAL variants include the DMR-E85HEE, DMR-E85HGCS, and DMR-E85HGN. The NTSC variant is the DMR-E85HP.
