Relevance to CRT televisions
DVB-S2 deployment coincided with the transition to flat-panel displays. Very few, if any, CRT televisions included built-in DVB-S2 tuners. Satellite HDTV reception on CRTs typically used external DVB-S2 receivers with analog video outputs.
