SECAM

SECAM (Séquentiel couleur à mémoire, "Sequential Color with Memory") is an analog color television system developed in France and used in France, Russia, and some other countries.

Regional variants

For RF tuner/broadcast purposes:

• SECAM-L — France, Luxembourg
• SECAM-D/K — Former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe

Technical notes

SECAM uses FM modulation for color information (unlike NTSC and PAL which use QAM), making it incompatible with NTSC/PAL color decoders even though it shares the same 625/50 timing as PAL.
