Overview
The Sony KV-9PT50 is a 9" consumer CRT television first introduced in 1995, often referred to as a "kitchen TV" due to its compact size and included mounting kit for under-cabinet installation. It features Sony's Trinitron technology and comes in white plastic (the dark grey AC/DC-powered sibling is the KV-9PT60).
This model uses the CXA1464AS jungle chip which has unused analog RGB and S-Video inputs, making it a popular candidate for RGB modification among retro gaming enthusiasts. The white plastic units are known to experience yellowing over time.

Service Mode
Both the picture settings menu and service menu require a remote to access. Most Sony remotes are compatible.
Picture Menu: Press MENU on the remote, then select SET-UP.
Service Menu: Power the TV off, then press DISPLAY + 5 + VOL UP + POWER in quick succession to boot into service mode. Scroll settings with 1/4, adjust values with 3/6. Save changes by pressing MUTE then ENTER.
Note: HSIZE and pincushion controls will not function as this TV lacks the necessary components.
Known Issues
- Horizontal linearity: Like most 9-10" consumer CRTs, this model lacks a horizontal linearity correction coil, causing the right side of the screen to appear slightly compressed
- Plastic yellowing: The white plastic casing tends to yellow with age and UV exposure
- Corner convergence: Typically not excellent on these small tubes; all adjustment must be done with rings and convergence strips (no H-STAT adjustment available)
