Description

The JVC AV-27D304 is a 27-inch CRT television from JVC's D-Series lineup, released in 2003. This late-era D-Series model uses the FE2 chassis shared with the 30 Series models (AV-27430/AV-27432). Notable features include dual S-Video inputs, Game Mode, and a dark-tinted picture tube.

Technical Details

Chassis

The AV-27D304 uses the FE2 chassis, which is a 1-chip design shared with the 30 Series. This chassis cannot be RGB modded due to its integrated design. The component video input provides excellent quality comparable to RGB for retro gaming.

The 3-line digital comb filter provides quality composite and S-Video processing. The dual S-Video inputs are useful for connecting multiple devices without switching.

Tube Identification

The tube brand can be identified by the letter beside the serial number on the back of the set:

  • R = RCA/Thomson (A68ADT25X01)
  • S = Samsung (A68QDN891X001)

Tube specifications:

  • Deflection: 111°
  • Mask Type: Slot, 0.87 mm pitch
  • High Voltage: 28kV ± 1.3kV (at zero beam current)

Audio

The AV-27D304 uses a 1.2W × 2 stereo power amplifier with BBE High Definition Audio processing.

Red Push

The 2003-2004 D-Series models with later chassis revisions have no known service menu red push fix available.

Setup Tips

  • Game Mode reduces input lag for gaming
  • If component video appears in black and white, enable component in the setup menu
  • Default sharpness is typically too high - adjust in user menu for optimal picture
