Overview

The JVC AV-27230 is a 27-inch CRT television from JVC's 30 Series lineup. Released around 2001, this model features 600 lines of horizontal resolution and was marketed as an affordable option for customers desiring a larger screen TV without dual tuner PIP functionality.

This television shares the same tube and chassis as JVC's D-Series models but in a smaller footprint thanks to bottom-mounted rather than side-mounted speakers. Despite being a more budget-friendly option, it includes many premium features for its time.

RGB Modification

The JVC AV-27230 is confirmed to be RGB moddable. This model features an exceptional tube with impressive geometry, and unlike earlier JVC D-Series models (e.g., AV-27D201), there are no distracting funhouse scrolling problems. The modification uses an RGB mux board, with precalculated resistor values available for optimal results.

Models with serial numbers ending in 'R' use an RCA Thomson A68ADT25X01 tube. The RGB mod instructions for this model should also work for other JVC models with Toshiba chroma ICs.

Warning: CRT modifications involve potentially lethal high voltages (20,000+ V). Only experienced technicians should attempt these modifications.
