The Sony PHM-14M8U is a 14-inch (12 1/8-inch viewable) professional HD color monitor from Sony's Digital HDVS (High Definition Video System) line. It is the smaller sibling of the Sony PHM-20M8U, sharing the same signal compatibility, input/output configuration, and feature set in a more compact chassis.

Features

The PHM-14M8U uses a 14-inch HR Trinitron tube with SMPTE-C standard phosphors and an aperture grille pitch of 0.25 mm. It delivers a center resolution of 600 TV lines in 16:9 mode and 800 TV lines in 4:3 mode, with a frequency response of 24 MHz for YPbPr and 22 MHz for GBR signals.

Like the PHM-20M8U, the monitor accepts 1080 and 1035 HD signal formats at 59.94 or 60 Hz vertical rates, as well as standard 525-line NTSC signals in both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios. The 16:9 widescreen mask is detachable for standard 4:3 applications.

Aspect ratio is switchable between 16:9 and 4:3 modes with a 4:3 Area Marker function. Color temperature is selectable between D65, D93, and two user-definable presets. Underscan, Blue Only, and H/V Delay display modes are available, along with auto/manual degaussing.

An optional Sony BKM-301HD HD SDI Input Adaptor can be connected to add a High Definition Serial Digital Interface input. The monitor is rack-mountable using the optional Sony MB-502B rack mounting bracket or Sony SLR-102 slide rail kit.

Remote control is supported via a 20-pin parallel connector and two D-sub 9-pin serial connectors. The monitor can be connected to and controlled by Sony HDM and BVM Series monitors using the supplied serial remote connector.
