The Panasonic PV-M2079 is a 20-inch television with an integrated VHS recorder — what Panasonic called a Combination VCR — sold in the United States alongside the otherwise similar PV-M2089.[1]

The display uses a 20-inch PanaBlack picture tube with 90-degree deflection.[1] The tuner covers VHF 2–13, UHF 14–69 and the full cable plan from midband through ultraband (channels 01, 14–125 and 95–99), and it also receives FM radio across 87.5–108.1 MHz through a built-in antenna, so the set can be used as a radio with the screen off.[1] TV sound is MTS stereo with SAP through two built-in speakers.[1]

The VCR section is a four-head rotary helical-scan VHS deck. On the PV-M2079 it records a single normal audio track; Hi-Fi stereo recording with two audio channels is reserved for the PV-M2089, which also adds rear audio output connectors.[1]

The set draws about 110 W in use and 4.5 W when switched off but still plugged in, measures 515 × 505 × 474 mm (w/h/d) and weighs 23 kg.[1]
