Leitch
Leitch Technology Corporation was a Canadian manufacturer of broadcast video equipment, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. The company was a leading provider of video synchronizers, routing systems, master control systems, and video servers for the broadcast and post-production industries.
History
Leitch was founded in the 1970s and grew to become one of the world's largest manufacturers of broadcast infrastructure equipment. The company's products were used by major television networks, cable operators, and telecommunications companies worldwide.
Acquisition of Digital Processing Systems
On September 5, 2000, Leitch Technology Corporation announced it would acquire Digital Processing Systems for approximately $86.5 million CAD. The acquisition strengthened Leitch's core video synchronizer business and expanded its video storage and editing portfolio. Following the acquisition, the combined company became the world's leading manufacturer of video synchronizers and timing products.
Acquisition by Harris Corporation
In 2005, Harris Corporation acquired Leitch Technology Corporation for approximately $450 million USD. The Leitch product lines were integrated into Harris's Broadcast Communications division (later Harris Broadcast), which continued to manufacture and support many Leitch-branded products.
