Overview

The JVC TM-1650SDU is a 16-inch professional color monitor with a built-in serial digital interface (SDI), designed for broadcast and production monitoring applications.[1] Announced at NAB 2000 alongside the 9-inch JVC TM-950DU, it launched at a suggested list price of $1,995.[2] It was part of JVC's discontinued broadcast monitor lineup alongside its non-SDI sibling, the TM-1650SU.

The monitor uses a 16-inch CRT with in-line guns and a 0.42mm stripe pitch, delivering more than 550 lines of horizontal resolution.[3] It supports multi-system operation across NTSC and PAL standards, with switchable 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios.[1] The unit features a metal cabinet construction and wired remote control capability.[1] On-screen menu-driven operation provides access to aspect ratio select, color temperature select, white balance adjustment, and memory storage and recall, with a control lock to prevent accidental changes during production.[2]

The TM-1650SDU's built-in SDI input is SMPTE 259M compliant with active loop-through for daisy-chaining.[3] Analog inputs include two composite video channels on BNC with bridge connections, and one S-Video (Y/C) channel on 4-pin Mini-DIN (switched with Video B) with loop-through.[3] The overview also lists component and RGB compatibility.[1] Two audio channels on RCA with bridge connections support the video inputs, along with a wired remote port on RCA with bridge connection.[3] A built-in 8cm round speaker provides 1W mono audio monitoring at 8 ohms impedance.[3]

The monitor requires 120V AC at 50/60Hz and draws 1.2A.[3] It measures 395mm × 334mm × 427.5mm (W × H × D) and weighs 39 lbs (17.8 kg).[3]
