DVI-D
DVI-D is the digital-only variant of the DVI (Digital Visual Interface) connector, a TMDS-based video interface introduced in 1999 by the Digital Display Working Group. The D-shaped connector carries 24 signal pins plus a flat blade key; unlike DVI-I it has no analog pins, so it carries only digital video.[1]
On CRT televisions the connector appears as the DVI-HDTV input of early-2000s HD sets — a single-link DVI-D port with HDCP copy protection, compliant with the EIA/CEA-861 video timing standard, intended for digital set-top boxes rather than computers. It was the digital HD input of the generation immediately before HDMI appeared; HDMI is electrically compatible with single-link DVI-D video through a passive adapter (audio, however, runs on separate analog jacks).[1]

Use on CRT Televisions
DVI-HDTV inputs are found on HD-capable CRT sets of roughly 2002–2004, such as Sony's XBR910-series FD Trinitron WEGA models, where the port accepts 480p and 1080i digital video from HDCP-capable sources. Manufacturers explicitly scoped these inputs to consumer video timings — Sony's manuals note the port "is not intended for use with personal computers".
