The Sony PVM-1954Q is a 19-inch multi-standard professional video monitor introduced in 1994. It is the large sibling of the 13-inch PVM-1354Q and PVM-1351Q, sharing their manual, control layout and connector complement.

Its HR (High Resolution) Trinitron tube — Sony part M49KGH20X, 0.4 mm aperture grille pitch, 90-degree deflection — resolves more than 600 TV lines at the centre of the picture and carries SMPTE-C phosphor. Convergence is specified at 0.7 mm typical in the central area and 1.3 mm at the periphery, and high-voltage regulation at 4.0 %. Video bandwidth is 6.0 MHz (−3 dB) on composite and 10.0 MHz on RGB.

Colour system selection across PAL, SECAM, NTSC and NTSC 4.43 is automatic, and an NTSC comb filter is fitted.

Features

The front panel provides blue-only mode, underscan (3 % underscan against 7 % overscan in normal scan), horizontal/vertical delay, external sync selection, and automatic degaussing on power-up alongside a manual DEGAUSS button. On-screen menus in five languages cover colour temperature — two fixed presets plus a USER setting adjustable from 3200 K to 10000 K, factory set to 6500 K — and chroma setup.

All video inputs are loop-through pairs whose internal 75-ohm termination releases automatically when a cable is plugged into the corresponding output. The RGB/COMPONENT BNC trio takes either analog RGB or Betacam R-Y/Y/B-Y component, syncing to the green/Y channel or to a reference on the separate EXT SYNC IN connector.

A 20-pin REMOTE connector carries tally and remote-control signals. An optional SDI kit adds a serial digital input and raises power consumption from about 115 W to about 125 W. An SLR-103 bracket mounts the monitor in a standard EIA 19-inch rack.
