Overview

The JVC TM-950DU is a 9-inch professional color monitor with a built-in serial digital interface (SDI), designed for broadcast rack-mount applications where two units can be mounted side by side in a standard equipment rack.[1] Originally priced at $1,645,[2] it was part of JVC's discontinued broadcast monitor lineup alongside its non-SDI sibling, the TM-910SU.

The monitor uses a 9-inch CRT with in-line guns and a 0.50mm stripe pitch, delivering more than 300 lines of horizontal resolution.[3] It supports multi-system operation across NTSC and PAL standards, with switchable 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios.[1] The unit features professional monitoring functions including pulse cross, blue check, and color off modes, along with a tally lamp for on-air indication.[1]

The TM-950DU's built-in SDI input is SMPTE 259M compliant with active looping for daisy-chaining.[3] Analog inputs include two composite video channels on BNC with bridge connections.[3] Unlike the larger TM-1650SDU, the TM-950DU does not include an S-Video (Y/C) input.[3] A single mono audio channel on RCA with bridge connection supports the video inputs, and the unit includes an external sync input on BNC with bridge connection and a REMOTE/TALLY port on DIN 8-pin.[3] A built-in 8cm round speaker provides mono audio monitoring.[3]

The monitor requires 120V AC at 60Hz and draws 0.57A.[3] It measures 222mm × 229.5mm × 370mm (W × H × D) and weighs 17.4 lbs (7.9 kg).[3]
