The Sony KV-30HS420 is a 30" widescreen FD Trinitron WEGA television released by Sony in 2004. It was Sony's most affordable widescreen Hi-Scan TV at its launch, with an MSRP of $600. The set features a 16:9 aspect ratio, Hi-Scan 1080i display, and accepts high-definition signals up to 1080i via its HDMI and component video inputs.[1]

Features

The KV-30HS420 includes Digital Reality Creation (DRC) MultiFunction circuitry, which upconverts standard 480i NTSC signals to higher resolutions in real time. CineMotion Reverse 3:2 pulldown technology improves the display of film-based content by preserving the original 24fps frame structure. Additional picture-enhancement features include ClearEdge VM wideband velocity modulation, Dynamic Focus circuitry, and a 3D digital comb filter.

Audio is handled by a pair of 10W stereo speakers with SRS TruSurround simulated surround sound and BBE sound enhancement. The rear audio output jacks can be set to either fixed or variable volume operation for connection to an external amplifier.

The DA-4 chassis used in early production units supports a service menu setting ("HDPT" set to 0) that bypasses the digital scaling circuitry for 1080i and 540p signals, eliminating input lag at those resolutions. A mid-2005 chassis revision removed this capability.[2]
