The Sony CVM-1225 is a 12-inch NTSC Trinitron colour monitor with a built-in television tuner, sold in the United States on chassis SCC-29A-A.[1]
The picture tube is a 12-inch, 90-degree deflection Trinitron driven by a red, green and blue cathode drive system. The set is a hybrid design of its era, built from 60 transistors, 32 diodes, 3 thermistors, one posistor and just 3 integrated circuits.[1]
The tuner covers the American TV standards across VHF channels 2–13 and UHF channels 14–83. Antenna inputs are 300-ohm balanced for both bands — a dipole antenna plus external terminals for VHF, and a loop antenna plus external terminals for UHF.[1] The IF strip has three stages with one double-tuned and three single-tuned elements, working at a 45.75 MHz picture carrier, 42.17 MHz colour subcarrier and 41.25 MHz sound carrier, with a 4.5 MHz intercarrier sound system.[1]

Beyond the tuner, the CVM-1225 takes external video two ways. An 8-pin EIAJ connector accepts composite video at 1 Vp-p with negative sync into 75 ohms unbalanced together with audio at 0 dB into high impedance, and simultaneously provides a video output at the same level plus an audio output at −20 dB into less than 1 kilohm.[1] A separate LINE IN video connection uses a UHF-type coaxial connector at the same 1 Vp-p, 75-ohm unbalanced standard, with audio on a minijack; matching TV OUT and MONITOR OUT UHF connectors carry video back out, and a TV OUT minijack carries audio at 0 dB into less than 1 kilohm.[1]
Sound is delivered at 1.2 W for 10% harmonic distortion through an 8 × 12 cm (3¼ × 4¾ inch) 8-ohm speaker. The monitor runs from 120 V AC at 60 Hz and consumes 85 W.[1]
