The Apple Multiple Scan 15AV Display is a 15-inch multiscan colour monitor with built-in front-facing stereo speakers, part of Apple's mid-1990s Multiple Scan line. The "AV" in the name marks the audio capability.[1]
The picture tube is a 15-inch CRT with a 13.75-inch diagonal viewable image and a raster size of 270 × 200 mm (10.6 × 7.9 in.), with a 0.28 mm dot pitch and an antistatic, antiglare surface treatment.[1] The phosphor is aluminized P22 with CIE coordinates of red x = 0.610, y = 0.342; green x = 0.298, y = 0.588; and blue x = 0.151, y = 0.064. White point is 9300 K and shipping brightness is 25 foot-lamberts ±5.[1]
Features
The display is genuinely multiscan, running 640 × 480 at 60 Hz (VGA) and 67 Hz (Macintosh), 800 × 600 at 60 and 72 Hz (SVGA), 832 × 624 at 75 Hz (Macintosh) and 1024 × 768 at 60, 70 and 75 Hz.[1] Line rates across those modes run from 31.5 kHz at 640 × 480/60 up to about 60 kHz at 1024 × 768/75.[1]
Video arrives on a 15-pin miniature D-type connector as red, green and blue with separate sync.[1] On the Macintosh side the display was supported by Macintosh, Centris, Quadra, some Performa models and any NuBus-compatible Macintosh with a Display Card 24AC; machines with Display Card 4•8, 8•24 or 8•24GC ran it at 640 × 480, and system software 7.1 or later was required.[1]
Audio response is 50 Hz to 20,000 Hz at 2 W output, giving a sound pressure level of 82 dB at 1 kHz measured at one metre.[1] Front-panel user controls cover power, select, up, down, recall and brightness. The monitor degausses automatically at power-on and can be degaussed manually by switching the power off and on again.[1]
The power supply accepts 100–240 V AC at 50–60 Hz, drawing a maximum of 75 W and 8 W in sleep mode, and the display conforms to the United States Energy Star program.[1] It measures 383 × 443 × 395 mm (H × W × D) and weighs 14 kg (31 lb).[1]
