The JVC AV-36850 is a 36-inch (90 cm) full-square NTSC television, the largest model in a family whose instruction manual also covers the 27- and 32-inch AV-27850 and AV-32850.[1]

Reception is to the NTSC and BTSC (multichannel sound) systems across VHF channels 2–13, UHF 14–69 and the cable sub, mid, super, hyper and ultra bands, using a 181-channel frequency-synthesiser tuning system fed from a 75-ohm F-type VHF/UHF antenna terminal.[1]

The set measures 86.0 × 76.5 × 60.3 cm (W × H × D) and weighs 67.8 kg (149.5 lb), drawing a maximum of 135 W at 1.8 A from a 120 V, 60 Hz supply.[1]

Features

Audio output is 3 W per channel into a pair of 18 × 12 cm oval speakers.[1] Variable audio output jacks deliver more than 0 up to 1550 mV RMS (+6 dBs) at low impedance, measured at 400 Hz with 100% modulation, so the television can drive an external amplifier at a level tracking its own volume control.[1]

External composite inputs take video at 1 Vp-p into 75 ohms with audio at 500 mV RMS (−4 dBs) into high impedance, and an S-Video input takes Y at 1 Vp-p positive into 75 ohms with negative sync provided, plus C at 0.286 Vp-p burst into 75 ohms.[1]

Two 3.5 mm AV Compu Link mini jacks allow the television to be linked with other JVC components for coordinated operation.[1] The set ships with a remote control unit and two AA batteries.[1]
