The Sony FD-10A is a handheld black-and-white television from Sony's Watchman line, sold from about 1986–1987.[1]
Its 2-inch screen uses Sony's flat picture tube — the tube is folded so the electron gun fires along the face of the screen rather than at it from behind, which is what let the whole set be about 38 mm thick instead of carrying a conventional CRT neck.[2]
The set runs from four AA cells — dry or rechargeable — drawing about 1.6 W, which gives roughly 5 hours on alkalines.[1] It has a US-standard VHF and UHF tuner with a built-in telescopic aerial, a mono speaker and an earphone jack, and weighs about 410 g.[1] Sony offered a VCV-2 screen magnifier and a BC-3K4 charger as accessories.[1]
