Design

The AV-27D303 features a black plastic bezel with bottom-mounted speakers. The control panel is located on the front right side of the television with volume, channel, and menu controls.

RGB Mod Information

This model cannot be easily RGB modded according to community reports. The chassis design is not readily compatible with RGB modification, and more importantly, the gains over the existing component input would be marginal due to this model year's very good component decoding. Since the AV-27D303 already includes high-quality component video inputs (YPbPr), it can display near-RGB quality video, making an RGB mod unnecessary for most users.

Setup Tips

  • If component video appears in black and white, access the setup menu and enable "V2 Component-In" for INPUT 2
  • The default sharpness level is typically set too high, causing ringing artifacts. Adjust this in the user menu for optimal picture quality
  • To disable vertical edge enhancement (which artificially boosts contrast on vertical transitions for composite and RF sources), set LYC02 to zero in the 3L Y / C sub-menu of the service menu
  • The television includes I2C bus control for advanced service adjustments
  • The front Input 3 jacks are located under the front panel door - pull to open

Service Information

This model uses a user's guide (document number LCT1145-001B-A) published in June 2002. The AV-27D303 shares its design and features with the AV-27D203, with both models using the RM-C252 remote control.
