Overview

The JVC TM-1051DGU is a 10-inch (9" viewable) professional color CRT monitor with dual Serial Digital Interface (SDI) inputs, announced at the NAB show in Las Vegas on April 24, 2006.[1] It was designed for broadcast, production, and editing applications, and was priced at $1,247.

The monitor uses a 10-inch CRT with a stripe pitch of 0.50mm, delivering more than 280 TV lines of horizontal resolution. A digital comb filter aids color reproduction, and color temperature is selectable between 6,500K and 9,300K. The unit supports both NTSC and PAL signals at 50Hz and 60Hz scanning frequencies. Power consumption is rated at 0.9A (120V AC) or 0.6A (220–240V AC).[2]

Two composite video inputs (A and B) are provided on BNC connectors at 1.0Vp-p with 75Ω auto-termination and bridged loop-through outputs. The dual SDI inputs (C and D) are compatible with 480/60i and 576/50i signals per SMPTE 259M, with embedded audio support per SMPTE 272M. A switched SDI output is provided on BNC, and two RCA connectors output de-embedded analog audio on channels 1 and 2.[2]

The on-screen menu (OSM) system provides extensive setup and operational control. Professional monitoring features include an on-screen audio level meter for SDI embedded audio, safe area markers at 80%, 88%, and 90% of screen size, selectable 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, underscan mode for viewing the full active picture, and a Screens Check mode offering color adjustment, blue check, and color off functions for setting hue, saturation, and white balance. A two-color tally lamp (red or green, selectable via OSM) is mounted on the front panel.[3]

An RJ-45 connector on the rear panel enables wired remote control of tally lamp, aspect ratio, input selection (A or C), audio level meter, marker display, and power on/off. The compact 5U-height design (8-3/4"W × 8-3/4"H × 14-1/4"D, 17.4 lbs) allows individual rack mounting or dual side-by-side installation in any EIA 19-inch rack using the optional RK-MOB910 rack mount adapter ($217) or the optional RK-C101E adapter.[4][5][1]
