Service Menu
The service menu can be accessed as follows: Set volume to minimum, then hold the Volume Down button on the front and press "Info" on the remote. Items can be selected and modified using the channel and volume buttons. To cycle through pages of the menu, press "OK" followed by the channel up or down buttons. When you are finished with the service menu, press "Mute" to save the settings and turn the TV off. WARNING: DO NOT press "go back", as it can erase all settings and put the TV in an uncalibrated state!
RGB Mod
The RGB mod status for the RCA 14F512T is currently unknown. The model is not listed in Sunthar's RGB moddable or non-moddable CRT lists. However, there are some interesting hardware details:
- An upgraded version, the 14F514T, was produced with a black case and features component video
- The 512T is mostly identical to the 514T and even has cutouts for the extra RCA jacks behind the rear input label
- The component input is disabled in firmware on the 512T model
- This suggests the 14F512T hardware may have RGB capabilities that are firmware-limited
Safety Warning: CRT TV modification is extremely dangerous. CRT TVs contain voltages exceeding 20,000V that can be lethal, even when turned off. Do not open a CRT TV without proper knowledge of high voltage safety procedures.
Known Issues
- The TV can suffer from misaligned chroma and luma, which causes blurry edges on colorful objects. This can be corrected in the service menu.
