|description=The Sony SL-HF950 was Sony's top-of-the-range PAL Betamax VCR, released in 1985. Built on the CX chassis, it featured a unique combination loading system, outstanding picture quality with Super Beta Pro mode achieving 280 lines of horizontal resolution, video insert editing, a SCART (Peritel) socket, trick speed controls, and audio dubbing. It offered Beta Hi-Fi PAL stereo sound with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, dynamic range over 80 dB, and wow/flutter below 0.005% WRMS; conventional audio recording was monaural. Along with the SL-HF100, it was one of only two Hi-Fi Betamax recorders released for the UK domestic market. The SL-HF950 was a PAL-only model; there was no direct NTSC equivalent with this exact feature set, though the American SL-HF900 (1985) was a comparable top-of-the-line NTSC Hi-Fi Super Beta model.
