Overview
The JVC BM-H1300SU is a 13-inch broadcast-grade color video monitor from JVC's BM-H series, designed for professional video production and broadcast monitoring applications. Manufactured in Japan and released in 1999, it was classified by JVC as a "Color Video Monitor" and carried FCC Class A certification for commercial environments.[1]
The BM-H1300SU uses a Panasonic-manufactured 13-inch CRT with SMPTE-C phosphors, in-line guns, and a trio-dot shadow mask with a 0.28 mm dot pitch, delivering 750 or more TV lines of horizontal resolution.[1] The tube incorporates an auto white-balance stabilizer (I/K feedback circuit) for stable color reproduction over extended use, with selectable color temperature settings of 6500K and 9300K.[1] It supports NTSC 3.58 MHz, NTSC 4.43 MHz, and PAL color systems, and features switchable 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio display modes.[1]
The monitor's professional input complement includes two composite video channels (Video A and B) on BNC, one S-Video (Y/C) channel on 4-pin Mini-DIN, and a switchable component (Y/B-Y/R-Y) or analog RGB input on BNC — all with bridge-connected loop-through outputs and 75Ω termination switches for signal daisy-chaining in multi-monitor setups.[1] A dedicated external sync (EXT SYNC) BNC terminal with loop-through is provided for studio genlock applications, and a TALLY/REMOTE DIN 8-pin port supports external tally lamp signaling and remote input switching for system integration.[1] Three mono audio channels on RCA (with bridge connections) correspond to each video input group.[1]
On-screen menu controls include comb/notch filter selection for NTSC signals, luminance peaking frequency and level adjustments, AFC time constant switching for VTR playback, and a memory mode that stores a complete set of picture settings for quick recall.[1] A control lock feature disables front-panel adjustments for secured installations, and a setup menu provides RGB picture size/centering, white balance calibration, and remote terminal configuration.[1] An optional RM-C550W wireless remote control enabled individual operation of up to 99 monitors via programmable ID numbers.[1]
The BM-H1300SU was succeeded by the JVC BM-H1310SU, which added an SDI input and used a Chunghwa-manufactured tube with P-22 phosphors in place of the original Panasonic tube with SMPTE-C phosphors.
