Overview
The JVC AV-28CH1EUB is a 28-inch 16:9 widescreen CRT television produced by JVC (Victor Company of Japan) for the European market. It is built on the MF basic chassis and dates from 2002.[1] The set is a 100 Hz design: it doubles the field rate to 100 Hz for 50 Hz PAL/SECAM sources (and 120 Hz for 60 Hz NTSC) to reduce large-area flicker.[1]
Off air it receives PAL and SECAM across the CCIR B/G, D/K, I and L/L' systems, and it can additionally display NTSC (3.58 MHz and 4.43 MHz sub-carriers) through its external AV inputs.[1] The picture tube has a 66 cm (about 26 in) diagonal visible area and operates at up to 30 kV at zero beam current.[1]
The AV-28CH1EUB is a cosmetic variant of the AV-28CH1EUS. The two are electrically identical on the MF chassis and differ only in cabinet trim and the bundled remote control, which is the RM-C50 on this model.[1]
Features
- 100 Hz / 120 Hz scan conversion for reduced flicker.[1]
- NICAM and A2 (dual/German) stereo sound, supporting bilingual programmes; 5 W + 5 W amplifier driving two 10 × 3 cm oval speakers.[1]
- Teletext with FASTEXT, TOP (German) and WST (World Standard) systems.[1]
- Interactive on-screen control menu.[1]
- Aspect modes for displaying 4:3 material on the 16:9 screen: Full, Panoramic, Subtitle and Compress.[1]
- VCR dubbing via the EXT-2 SCART line output, which can carry a source chosen on the AV selector.[1]
Reception
Terrestrial tuning covers VHF 47–470 MHz and UHF 470–862 MHz through a 75 Ω unbalanced coaxial aerial input.[1] Mains input is AC 230 V, 50 Hz, with a rated power consumption of 112 W (average) and 165 W (maximum), and 2.8 W in standby.[1]
