Overview

The JVC AV-2090 is a 20-inch color monitor/receiver built around JVC's S-Mark II chassis, featuring a 20-inch FS (Full Square) data-grade picture tube with a dot pitch of 0.57mm that enables display of up to 2,000 characters, figures, or symbols on screen at once.[1] The comb filter provides 400 lines of horizontal resolution with composite video input.[2]

A distinguishing feature of the AV-2090 is its 9-pin TTL digital RGB input via DB-9 connector with a dedicated audio pin-jack, designed for direct connection of home computers and video game systems.[1] The RGB input supports 16-color display depending on the connected computer and is selectable via the remote control, providing a sharper screen image for text than an RF connection.[1] This makes the AV-2090 compatible with IBM CGA and similar 8-bit computer video standards. The set uses a Panasonic M51JGK39X picture tube.

The AV-2090 includes three rear composite AV inputs plus a front-panel AV input with a "Through Out" bridged connection to rear INPUT C, along with dual RF antenna inputs for switching between two sources.[1] The built-in 142-channel quartz synthesizer tuner with MTS/SAP decoder supports stereo and bilingual broadcasts with full cable TV compatibility including Sub-Mid, Mid, Super, and Hyper bands.[2]

Outputs include line-level video and audio, a variable audio output with remote-adjustable volume, external speaker connectors, an antenna output to converter, and a headphone jack.[2] Additional features include a unified TV/VCR remote control (CT-202), a sleep timer with up to three hours in ten-minute increments, three-color on-screen display, EE Auto ambient light adjustment, tinted glass screen cover, edger circuit, and a skew switch for correcting distorted playback.[3][1]

The original MSRP was $899.[3]
